POSITION SUMMARY

Provides technical expertise and project management for the development and improvement of products and processes.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates and manages cross functional project teams when necessary for the implementation of new products and processes
  • Provides technical expertise and assistance to Sales Directors/Managers in developing proposals for new products and processes
  • Develops and implements process improvements, productivity improvements and cost reduction initiatives
  • Evaluates proposals developed by Sales for feasibility and cost effectiveness
  • Submits proposals and recommendations for new products and processes to Vice President of Engineering and Technology and/or designate
  • Develops process parameters and recommends material and equipment requirements for new products
  • Carries out evaluations and analysis of manufacturing procedures and facilities to determine areas for potential improvement
  • Develops project schedules and monitors progress
  • Recommends necessary equipment, processes and or procedures to be adopted to ensure products meet customer’s specifications at optimum manufacturing efficiency
  • Develops Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and presents to Senior Management for approval
  • Develops deliverables for each project and ensures sign off criteria is understood and agreed to by all stakeholders
  • Provides technical expertise and assistance to Supply Chain and assists with vendor qualification service
  • Provides technical assistance to resolve customer product issues
  • Ensures project deliverables are met and are completed on time and on budget
  • Provides weekly project status reports
  • Provides process/product training as required

 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • An Engineering degree (Electrical or Mechanical)
  • Minimum 10 years’ previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience and knowledge of AC and DC drives, PLC’s, Siemens Master Drives, Mentor etc is desired
  • Ability to problem solve and expedite solutions in a fast paced manufacturing environment while balancing quality issues
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience delivering strong results to improve customer service and operational efficiencies
  • Experience and success with Lean Manufacturing, or Total Quality Management, implementation and working knowledge of Six Sigma and tools used in assessing and implementing initiatives for continuous improvement
  • Ability to multi task, make well defined and supported decisions that meet deadlines with minimum supervision while balancing demands from several sources
  • Strong sense of urgency, enthusiasm, and a proven history of relentless execution
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • This position will require some travel, international and domestic
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
