Responsible for the distribution of our prepaid finished and semi finished wire products, and other materials, both inbound and outbound from suppliers, Tree Island production facilities and 3PL distribution centers to our customers; on time, claim free, at or below our established and agreed upon rate. Ensuring our logistic and distribution service network is in alignment with our customers, our sales team and our manufacturing requirements and expectations through exceptional internal and external customer service.

Overall management for service expectations and rate agreements of all prepaid transportation vendors, our three Canadian DC’s, trans border shipments to and from the United States and Mexico, and our New Zealand distribution network.

This role will also be accountable for planning, managing and delivering comprehensive facilities support services in order to meet strategic corporate business objectives.



  • Continually assess and manage the value and relationships of our core transportation vendors and suppliers though regular communication with internal teams, sales and customers.
  • Ensure a proactive and nimble approach is maintained within our logistics network to meet the delivery challenges, expectations and exceptions of our customers, sales group and facilities. 
  • Negotiate prepaid global transportation vendor contracts / agreements. Set the company Truckload monthly Fuel surcharge.
  • Compile and review with team monthly spend by transportation mode, region and exception.
  • Administer any freight rate changes in QAD freight tables as required.
  • Review and / or search out opportunities / sources to add or replace core vendors as needed or as opportunities develop which will improve service, reduce costs, offer alternatives, fill voids or gaps while meeting or exceeding current requirements and needs and within ISO compliance. Meet with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance of any new critical supplier.
  • Manage, monitor, evaluate and measure freight claims between Tree Island and our logistics vendors to an acceptable conclusion to Tree Island. Provide education for the sales team and our customers on the transportation claims process. Work with shipping departments to find proactive solutions for future claims prevention.
  • Consult with and manage suppliers to ensure quality and service requirements are met and maintained and where necessary obtain adjustments and /or replacement shipments. 
  • Hold weekly meetings with cross divisional logistic team.  Responsible for measuring, motivating, managing and mentoring individuals and cross divisional teams to successful outcomes through internal and external customer focus, open communication, cost containment discussions and parameters, results driven service and repeatable expectations.
  • Plans, manages and delivers comprehensive facilities support services related to buildings and infrastructure, building sustainable initiatives and the distribution of goods and services to meet business requirements in all locations
  • Handle other assignments or specific projects as opportunities arise.



  • Accredited Degree / Certificate in Logistics / Transportation Management or CPP designation.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive senior Logistics / Transportation Management and/or Procurement responsibility.
  • Background in multi modal and unionized manufacturing and logistics environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct purchasing authority and/or supplier contract negotiations at a senior level or directly reporting into a senior level. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience in dangerous goods transportation regulations and have negotiated contracts with railways, bulk and intermodal, truck carriers, FL, LTL and flat deck.
  • Previous experience in managing an annual budget of approximately $20 million. 
  • Ability to multi task, make well defined and supported decisions that meet deadlines with minimum supervision while balancing demands from several sources.
