COMPANY BACKGROUND

Tree Island is one of North America’s largest producers of steel wire and fabricated steel wire products. Their line of wire products includes high and low carbon, galvanized, bright and stainless steel wires. These products are sold in either spooled or straight & cut sections to a variety of customers for further downstream fabrication, or for end-use applications, such as baling, strapping and fencing. The company also offers many finished wire-based products, including a broad array of fasteners (packaged, collated and bulk nails), stucco reinforcing products, concrete reinforcing mesh, fencing and other fabricated wire products. Their products are made from wire rod sourced from a variety of producers around the world.

A significant portion of Tree Island’s products are used in different areas of the construction market: residential construction, renovation and heavy construction, which experience different demand cycles. Products also support industrial manufacturers and commercial fabricators, as well as the agricultural and forestry industries. Products are sold through multiple sales channels, including retailers, distributors, contractors, as well as original equipment manufacturers. 

JOB SUMMARY

Plans, directs and coordinates maintenance of equipment and machinery in industrial plants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish standards and policies for inspection and maintenance of equipment
  • Make recommendations on machinery improvements and requisitions
  • Directs maintenance of plant buildings and coordinates requirements for maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate and supervise preventive maintenance programs
  • Deal with contractors for small projects
  • Manage contracts and plant requirements of outside services.
  • Support the plants needs for controlling, monitoring, and maintaining compliance with all environmental issues
  • Supervise a total of 15 to 20 employees of different disciplines in the Maintenance Department
  • Supervise maintenance departments at multiple locations
  • Supervise maintenance purchasing
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Interview, recommend to hire and train employees
  • Planning, assigning and directing work
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Other projects and duties, as assigned
  • Coordinate with production managers for planned maintenance
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year degree in technical field or equivalent; or 8 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Must possess valid driver’s license, personal car insurance and maintain a good driving record
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Experience in a medium to heavy industrial environment
  • Ability to supervise rebuilding of equipment
  • Firm understanding of plant support systemsi.e.:compressors, water towers, pumping systems
