Job Summary:

Undertakes various mechanical drafting assignments and produces engineering drawings and layouts in CAD.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering drawings including both assembly and detail drawings, layouts, diagrams, and charts, according to accepted standards by working from sketches, existing drawings, or from measurements taken from components or equipment.
  • Prepare perspective and isometric drawings.
  • Review project instructions and blueprints to identify technical problems and possible solutions to those problems.
  • Prepare bills of materials.
  • Produce templates for flame cutting machine and sheet metal work.
  • Perform calculations as required, using charts, tables or handbook formulae.
  • Perform drafting office duties as assigned.



  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD Rel. 12 or higher, as well as AutoCAD LT as acquired through a college program in Engineering Drafting.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience with proficiency in mechanical drafting in CAD and drawing board skills.
  • Knowledge of machine shop practice and machining processes.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering materials such as iron and steels, carbides, brass and bronze.
  • Familiarity with machine elements and components such as bearings, gears, nuts and bolts, and drives.
  • Knowledge of tolerances and the ability to correctly use measuring instruments such as a caliper, micrometer, and protractor.
  • Knowledge of both imperial and metric measurement systems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
