Tree Island is one of North America’s largest producers of steel wire and fabricated steel wire products. Their line of wire products includes high and low carbon, bright and galvanized wire. These products are sold in either spooled or straight & cut sections to a variety of customers for further downstream fabrication, or for end-use applications, such as baling, strapping and fencing. The company also offers many finished wire-based products, including a broad array of fasteners (packaged, collated and bulk nails), stucco reinforcing products, concrete reinforcing mesh, agricultural fencing and other fabricated wire products. Their products are made from wire rod sourced from a variety of producers around the world.
A significant portion of Tree Island’s products are used in different areas of the construction market: residential construction, renovation and heavy construction, which experience different demand cycles. Products also support industrial manufacturers and commercial fabricators, as well as the agricultural and forestry industries. Products are sold through multiple sales channels, including retailers, distributors, contractors, as well as original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
The Technical Sales Engineer will bring leadership to our corporate strategy of growing our Engineered Structural Mesh business into North America, with a primary focus on developing and growing sales channels from our existing Canadian operations and in the USA from our added production capacity in California. This specialized resource will add to our existing technical resources to drive our rebar conversion initiative into welded wire reinforcement solutions through Architects, Engineering Consultants, Planners, Fabricators and Contractors.
The skill set of this resource combines both a strong and experienced engineering background with seasoned sales capability – a unique and already established individual that can ensure we can penetrate the market quickly, skillfully and independently. This individual’s experience will be broad to ensure access, relationships and prior success with these key stakeholders.
The Technical Sales Engineer position is an intricate part of a well-established dynamic sales team. He/she will promote and develop new prospects and engage with existing customers to drive sales of structural reinforcement products which require technical knowledge and strong understanding of concrete reinforcing applications. The individual acts as a key interface between the customer and the business as we build and institutionalize this core competency within Tree Islands business. He/she will execute sales plans to exceed business targets and customer expectations by performing the following duties.
